A tragic incident was reported from Malappuram district where a man lost his life after a firecracker explosion during local body election victory celebrations. The deceased has been identified as Irshad (40), a native of Periyambalam, Kondotty, Malappuram.
The incident occurred at Periyambalam in Ward No. 9 of Cherukavu Panchayat while victory celebrations were underway following the local body election results. Irshad was reportedly distributing firecrackers to others, which were placed on the front portion of his scooter.
During the celebrations, sparks from a nearby firecracker fell onto the firecrackers kept on the scooter, triggering a sudden explosion. Irshad sustained fatal injuries and died on the spot.
The incident took place at around 6:45 pm, casting a shadow over the victory celebrations in the area.
